| More info | Honey Bees are suffering huge loses Worldwide! We need to help our Solitary Garden Bees to pollinate our garden & allotment fruit, vegetables & flowers. They are very docile & do not normally sting. They do not live in hives!  Their habitat was mainly rotten logs & old lime mortar walls which have been reduced as we achieve our neat & tidy gardens.. now they are desperate for our help to give them nesting sites.This talk & demonstration will show you how to make nesting boxes from recycled materials and the plants that will encourage these cute bees to your garden. Just add a few nesting boxes & a few bee-friendly flowers to increase their numbers, before we lose them! You can still have a neat garden & help the bees! Friday 9th September - Green Film: Home | |
 Starting at 8:30pm at The Art House, we are screening Home, a 2009 documentary by Yann Arthus-Bertrand. The film is almost entirely composed of aerial shots of various places on Earth. It shows the diversity of life on Earth and how humanity is threatening the ecological balance of the planet. The documentary chronicles the present day state of the Earth, its climate and how we as the dominant species have long-term repercussions on its future. A theme expressed throughout the documentary is that of linkage—how all organisms and the Earth are linked in a "delicate but crucial" natural balance with each other, and how no organism can be self-sufficient. Sunday 11th September - Harvestival! | |
 From 12-4pm, come and join Transition Southampton members (and their friends and families) at a homegrown picnic.Bring a blanket, some food for yourself and/or to share to Southampton Little Common (near Highfield Lane and Highfield Road). Chutney, crumble, homemade bread, skipdived food, foraged berries, and homegrown salads are encouraged! This is a great chance to socialise with other Transition Southampton folks, so bring along anyone else you think might want to be involved. | |

 Join us at the old Tyrrell and Green site (Guildhall Square) for a great family-friendly day and evening of music, films, and renewable energy. Using both solar-power and cycle-power, we'll be having tea and smoothies, films and live bands.No need to go home to eat halfway through, as the Art House will be open for food 12-5 and 6-7. 3pm TV screening climate change DVD from the Co-op, powered by bike. from 7:30pm at the Art House. Last year we had a great local food evening at October Books to celebrate the fact that they started selling local chutneys, jams, apple juice, and oil. We're hoping to have a similar evening at the Art House. Take along your courgette gluts, herbs, tomatoes, homemade chutney, chicken eggs or anything else. If you go along to a scrumping session but find yourself with an excess of apples, swap or share them with someone else! Teas, coffee, ales, wine and cake available for sale from the Art House. Friday September 9th, doors from 6pm, dinner at 6:30 at the Art House They had such a great time last time that they decided to do another one! Expect a lovely meal at the Art House full of local seasonal ingredients. Dishes available will vary based on what they get from Sunnyfields, Riverford and some volunteers' gardens that week. There are going to be 25 spaces. They were fully booked last time and had to turn a few people away, so make sure you book a place! | More info | Applesand Snakes presents a FREE masterclass for poets and spoken word artists, with leading practitioner Jacob Sam-La Rose. This workshop will be aimed at poets and spoken word artists who are interested in developing young people’s creative writing and performance skills, with a particular view to working with the youth slam model.  The workshop will be a full day, on Monday 19th September and is open to anyone based in the SOUTH EAST region. We cannot pay transport fees, but the workshop is FREE and limited to a maximum of 20 participants. A buffet lunch will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about working with young people and poetry and performance. Gordon Clark of The Lantern Theatre has put together a Junk Band which will accompany the procession and also go round town with the Town Crier during the morning.
